Sci-Fi Mags Part 2

Two of my favorite mags in the wake of Star Wars were Science Fantasy Film Classics and it's even shorter lived sister mag Incredible Science Fiction. The mags had high production values and were well written. What I found most interesting was that each issue featured a film from the '50s, one from the '60s and one fron the '70s (a current hit like Star Wars). Each issue also featured a fold out poster of original art (no great shakes), based on the current hit movie featured in the mag.

SFFC and ISF were both published by Ron Fenton in 1977 and 1978. Editors were Irv Karchmar and Curt Clemmer. The Art Director of SFFC was Michael Stein, who with Karchmar would start Fantastic Films in '78 and later, Stein would go on to create Filmfax.

  1. I had (still have in my parents basement) Science Fantasy Film Classics No. 1, I never knew there were more issues.

  2. Amazing post. Is it possible to get scans of those classic articles about Close Encounters of the third kind from the number 2.

  3. televizicni,

I don't like to scan the interiors of mags in this condition, because it's kinda hard on them. You can get copies of this title on ebay for under $10.

  4. Thanks so much for the reply. Will try to find that piece somehow. Unfortunately ebay will not work from my side of the planet. But will keep searching. Thanks so much for great posts.
